<upd_detl>My view is that an acronym is only an abbreviation in the language it derives from. Oxford tags "NASA" as an abbreviation but not "FIFA" (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). "VSOP" is not an abbreviated form of 超長距離干渉計.
I can see an argument for tagging sense 2 as abbr, as it's a Japanese-made acronym of a Japanese word. Daijr doesn't describe "CD", "DVD", etc. as abbreviations but does define "JK" as "女子高生の略".</upd_detl>
