<upd_detl>Is this really needed? BMW is sometimes abbreviated to BM in (spoken) English as well. If we want to record it, I think the names dictionary is a better place for it.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I'm trying to avoid the situation with some dictionary clients, such as WWWJDIC, which will show partial matches. If you look up BM you'll be offered the entries for BMD, BMX, etc. but not necessarily the BMW one in the names dictionary.
It's not a big deal, but I like being helpful to the users.</upd_detl>

Maybe just in British English (+related varieties), though?
Also worth noting "BM" doesn't mean "bowel movements" in Japanese which might be the main meaning in US English 😂</upd_refs>

<upd_detl>I hear "Beemer" for BMWs occasionaly. I don't think the bowel motion sense is used in Japanese.</upd_detl>
