<upd_detl>Can't only be "one's reputation", since it can also (and frequently does) apply to objects.　 (not trying to nitpick, I had to search to figure out what this meant)

Not sure the best way to fix the gloss in a neutral way, so thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

Hmmm, just googled "living up to reputation" and thefreedictionary did almost exactly what I did:
