<upd_detl>It is interesting that adding 大声で the verb 叫ぶ looses its implication of "with anger", to change to a more mild "speak aloud". The exp. is moreover used to imply a person asking for help.
「大声で叫んだが、誰も助けてくれなかった。」</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>i think you're reading way too much into 叫ぶ and this expression. i really don't think this is anything more than the sum of its parts, and as a simple adv+noun combo i wouldn't say it needs to be an entry at all</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>It could be, as you reference I can see the ALC (eijiro) translations look quite as the plain 叫ぶ. I was brought to see this difference talking with one of my Japanese friends, and then by the results of my own research. Tomorrow I will try to talk to more people showing them the ALC (eijiro) examples and see their reactions, then give you an update. Thank you for pointing out the problem.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I hope I'm not imposing updating on an already active entry.. Rene was right. Eventually I was seeing too much in the expression, and my understanding of the English equivalents (shout, yell, cry) was lacking. Yet, still worth adding as it has been done. I think the entry is fine as it is now, however it is interesting to notice the translation proposed in the Shogakukan Progressive Japanese-English Dictionary I wrote in the reference.</upd_detl>
