<upd_detl>a tough call.  meikyo and daijs have three senses.  i think there is a slight distinction between "keeping up appearances" and "glossing over a mistake", but senses 1 and 2 could be merged as in koj/gg5</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I don't think "save face" works.
I don't think "cover up" or "conceal" is needed. They're not in the JEs and we have enough glosses on that sense.</upd_detl>
