Googling for 骨刷, then looking at "images" brought up mostly make-up brushes. Turns out they were all Chinese (the images option drops the language setting.)</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I'm not sure how to translate this best but I think "monochrome" is somewhat wrong - I think honesuri is a "key print", e.g. 
"key" as in CMYK, meaning "black". In early (Edo, Meiji period) karuta production it was common to print the black outlines 
with a woodblock or metal and then do the colors with kappazuri (stencil)</upd_detl>
