<upd_detl>I saw a colorful sign in a park today outlining dog-walking rules. At the top was(original punctuation):
引綱(リード)をはなさない
長さ2mまで

This is the first time I've noticed a kanji synonym for the ubiquitous (for dog-owners) リード for keeping dogs on-leash. Looking at google it seems like both 引綱 and 引き綱 are comparatively rare outside of official /city government/administrative contexts(park signs, rules), so I thought that maybe the reference to リード would be useful.

Or rather, if every time an official document uses 引き綱, it explicitly cross-references リード for Japanese readers, maybe it would be appropriate here as well? Not 100% sure about cross-reference rules here, or whether the reverse cross reference might also be warranted.

The google search for to find my references was something like ("犬" "引き綱" ルール). Some results reverse the kanji and kana as リード(引き綱). It's easy to find uses of リード without 引き綱, but not so much the reverse.

For this entry, I think the cross-reference is really only relevant for the "dog lead" sense. I'm not sure if that means the senses in this entry should be split for an unambiguous cross-reference.

Note: I see that jmdict 2856492 Active (id: 2210956) 首縄 also cross-references リード, so maybe this is similar.</upd_detl>

The large sign reads :散歩の時も引き綱を, with no reference to リード. The body gives 引き綱(リード), then *switches* to using リード. hmm.
自宅敷地から犬を出すときは、必ず引き綱(リード)をつけて、飼い主が制御できるようにしてください。
なお、伸縮するリードは思わぬ事故につながる恐れがあるため、特に気を付けて制御してください。</upd_refs>
