り or something verb-like that can't take a verb PoS.  is there a particular sense

<upd_detl>I don't think so. I have just looked through the instances of にしておく in the GG5 examples and in Eijiro. They pretty much match what is here. Yes, something like そのままにしておく is very typical usage.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I still don't think it's needed. As an auxiliary verb, おく can be used with all sorts of verbs. する is just one example.
If we have this, we'd need to add the other auxiliary verb senses as well. Daijs has 2, GG5 has 3, Daijr has 5.</upd_detl>
