I thought it might be a hoax at first but there's 
several real hits on Google Books, among others Atasuhi 
Koyano 日本売春史 (2007): "彼女らはピンプ(嬪夫)と呼ばれる楼
主のもとで働かされた。"
and シカゴ日系百年史 (1986):
