パラレルワーカーとは、ひとつの企業に所属・依存するのではなく、複数の仕事やキャリアを持って働く人を指す言葉です。
パラレル（Parallel）には「平行・並行」という意味があります。
また「複業」と表現されることもあります。
「副業」も複数の仕事をする点では同じですが、本業や所属企業など「メイン」の業務に加え「サブ」の仕事を持つという点が、パラレルワークと大きく異なります。
パラレルワークはメインとサブのように分けず、複数の仕事を同時並行的に行う働き方を指します。
