<upd_detl>"duty ends only in death" is apparently a quote from the
Warhammer media franchise. I had to think about it for a while
before it made sense, because to me it sounds like it's
saying "death is the inevitable outcome of duty," like one might
say "drinking and driving ends only in death."

I think changing "in" to "after" gets us closer to the proverb.

proverbs get verb part-of-speech tags.

<upd_detl>I'm only noting that "duty ends only in death" itself is not a
common English-language idiom, so we shouldn't have any
reservations about adjusting it to make the meaning clearer. If
it was common, then it would still be a valid gloss even if I
personally found it confusing.</upd_detl>
