<upd_detl>I think there's a lot of overlap between daijr' sense 1
and 2, to the extent I can't come up with anything that
distinguishes the usage in these examples:
example sense 1: 「インドは暑い国という-がある」
example sense 2: 「 -していたものと実際は全く違った」
_
I don't understand daijr's sense 3:
③ 〘心〙 目の前にない対象を直観的・具体的に思い描いた像。
「視覚的-」
There's a sentence including "視覚的イメージ" in EDR日英対
訳辞書 where it's translated as "visual image." Not
immediately helpful.
_
I think you could make an argument for having a separate
"reputation" sense: daijs 「企業イメージを高める」, prog:
"これは我が党のイメージアップになる" but I think that's also
sort of contained in the current sense 1.</upd_detl>
