<upd_detl>If Weblio churns out a mass of entries from different sources, it is a good idea to quote the one you are referring to rather than putting in a single URL.
This one is odd - that sense is not in any other JE AFAICT, nor in any of the kokugos I checked.  斎藤 can be a bit flakey at times, and I suspect this might be a back-formation from 単元論. I'd hesitate to add it based on just that source.

<upd_detl>I wouldn't say Saito is "crap", especially considering it was published nearly a hundred years ago. It's a useful source for obsolete/dated terms.
I agree with Jim that "monad" is probably a back-formation from 単元論. Shinmeikai has an additional sense that could possibly be translated as "monad" but it's not in the other kokugos. I think we can safely ignore it.</upd_detl>
