(Personally, I think it's very much a genericized term and the English dictionaries are lagging behind like always. That Wikipedia section reads like it was written by the company's terrified lawyers doing damage control.)</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I don't really agree; I think the [tm] tag is just stating an
objective fact (namely, that a company currently maintains a
registered trademark on the term). Trademarks aren't case sensitive in
the U.S. at least, and I don't think the official paperwork even
allows casing to be specified for brand names. (Stylized brand logos
seem to be a separate issue that require separate trademarks). So I
think the capitalization is paying undue deference to the brand.
A 絆創膏 isn't always going to be a Band-Aid®, so to me it looks a

<upd_detl>I'm OK with lower case for band-aid.
In a forked edit Marcus indicated the need for the バンソウコウ reading. He also suggested dropping バンソーコー/バンソーコ. I'm not sure about that. I'll approve this to clear up the mess and reopen.</upd_detl>
