<upd_detl>I'm not convinced.
Wikipedia, both English and Japanese, describes it as a local weather phenomenon that affects China, Japan and Korea.
I do not get any ngram hits for &lt;country&gt;の梅雨, except for 中国の梅雨.
The dates are taken from Wikipedia and apply to Honshu, Kyushu and Shikoku.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>i think the edit was mostly correct though maybe not glossed the best.  like africa and indonesia in the table here have a "rainy season", but it wouldn't normally be called 梅雨:

<upd_detl>I realise non-Japan application of the term is rare; I'm just making the point that there's no need to spell it out too much. The 国語s mention the period, so I suppose there's no harm.</upd_detl>
