<upd_detl>Daijr has 7 senses and GG5 has 5. I feel the distinctions are really too subtle, e.g. GG5 splits up "edition", "deluxe edition" and "foreign-language edition". Also both Daijr and GG5 has separate entries for 版/はん and 版/ばん, with the latter pointing the former. Do we need this too?</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I wouldn't describe ばん as 連濁 here. It's the *only* reading for 版 when used as a suffix (excl. 助数詞 usage), so it definitely needs a mention.

Compare with the 3rd (counter) sense where the reading follows regular 連濁 rules (はん in 第2版 but ぱん in 第3版).</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Rene, that note comes under the 3rd sense. There's no need to list (or even mention) ぱん because it's merely a rendaku reading.

ばん, however, is the only valid reading for 版 (regardless of what comes before it) when used as a suffix in the first sense. Daijr even has an entry for ばん which redirects to はん (版).

If I can't convince you to keep it in the list of readings, a note like the one I've written is an acceptable compromise.</upd_detl>

It's read はん when referring to printed material (esp. woodblock prints), including with the meaning "edition", but ばん when it refers to a "version" (of something that's not printed). if this could be clarified in the entry that would be good.</upd_detl>
