<upd_detl>I don't mean to confuse the matter but I
feel it's important to distinguish that
this IS indeed idiomatic Japanese in the
sense that it is a common expression/set
phrase that would come quite natural to a
native speaker. As such, it is not just
any old random cluster of words (a+b) but
actually several times more common than
other similar constructions with the same
(or similar) meaning. Maybe this should
really be discussed on the mailing list
because I feel all editors are not always
on the same page whether these relatively
straightforward but common set phrases
should be included or not, but to me, they
do seem obviously helpful to have.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>It certainly is useful to know that 常識 is used with 範囲 in this way but I don't think it has any place in a dictionary as a headword.
Every language is full of collocations like this.
Unless the words are being used in a non-standard way, I think they're better suited as examples.</upd_detl>

I don't feel there's anything that makes 常識の範囲内 more worthy of inclusion than the above examples (and I'm not suggesting we add all of them).</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I do think there's a difference between 常識~ (and also 想定~) and 予算~ as they are to my mind less obvious and compositional than
and used in a more idiomatic (non-literal) way and not what an English-speaker would come up with, translating from English. I still
think this and/or the -内-less version should be an entry/entries, but I won't protest if this is deleted. (it's about time we make a
decision either way)</upd_detl>
