業界では「トムソン」という言葉が普通に使われていますが、由来はどこからくるのでしょうか？調べてみると人の名前のようです。アメリカのジョン・Ｓ・トムソン氏が設立した
トムソン・マシン社が１９０９年にトムソン型機械を発売しました。その機械でおこなう型抜き加工を「トムソン抜き（加工）」と呼び、そして使用する型を「トムソン型」と呼び
ます。この呼称は主に西日本地域でよく使われています。

<upd_detl>I was hoping it might be in GG5 or something. It's not a household word but I think it'd be nice if we 
could translate terms and jargon used in various industries as well, not least for people in these 
industries (for Japanese companies trying to explain their products in English, for example). But if we
