<upd_detl>I'm not married to calling it an abbr, but I do feel it is one, even if the word 新 doesn't appear in the full name. What would you call it in the note, then? Or did you want to remove the note too?
I agree with Jim that calling it the "New Ainu Law" in English seems a little weird considering the law isn't exactly new any longer. But I think the issue of formatting these entries isn't entirely straightforward, I'm not really sure what's best.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I don't think there's a problem with "New Ainu Law", as that's what "アイヌ新法" means. It's not the gloss that's dated.
I think this format is OK. Wikipedia describes it as a "通称" as opposed to an abbreviation.
Wikipedia says that アイヌ新法 also refers to a newer law passed in 2019 (that replaced the 1997 one). Not sure how we want to incorporate this. A second sense?</upd_detl>

Drop the notes and abbr tags. Revert to the short names. If needed, include a short description of the law. If the name is used to refer to more than one law, list the years they were enacted in brackets.</upd_detl>
