<upd_detl>I had assumed this was 和製, but none of the dictionaries listed in refs says it is; the only dictionary I have claiming it's 和製 is Weblio和製英語辞書. The English Wiki page for tow truck even lists "wrecker" and uses the term a few times within the page. Early Google hits for "tow truck wrecker" (without quotes) also all seem to be unrelated to Japan.</upd_detl>
