<upd_detl>In Japanese "ボトムス" clearly has much wider application than "bottoms" has in English. I think it's probably misleading to gloss it as "bottom" or "bottoms" as their meaning is much narrower.
(I thought it was hilarious the first time I saw "bottoms" advertised in a sale in Japan.)</upd_detl>

<upd_refs>I agree with Rene that "if the change to singular is made for トップス, it should
be made here too".
.
In addition, I felt it was better to have an example of a lower garment which
does not have two legs, such as a skirt. Otherwise, one might wonder whether
something like a skirt is considered to be a ボトムス.
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%9C%E3%83%88%E3%83%A0%E3%82%B9
.
Technically, ボトムス is wasei Eigo, since a "bottom" is "the part of a two-piece
garment such as a tracksuit or bikini that covers the lower body" (Encarta),
which is not what ボトムス means in Japanese (it doesn't have to be part of a two-
piece garment).</upd_refs>
