<upd_detl>The definitions in most monolingual dictionaries seem to point towards a nuance of 'satiation' rather than one of 'gluttony', with one definition relating to eating to satiety, and another relating to experiencing no insufficiencies or inconveniences in everyday life in general. This is supported by how 飽食 is used in various texts, including the discussion of poor eating habits other than overeating in an era of 飽食, the juxtaposition of 飽食 with 飢餓 in a discussion of food situations in developed and developing countries, and the fact that 飽食する represents an action that can 'decuple courage', which is inconsistent with the effects of excessive eating. The kanji 飽 also does not seem to express an idea of excess, with its main nuances relating to fullness and sufficiency: this is consistent with the meanings indicated by 大辞林, and is additionally consistent with how the kanji is used in Chinese, which shares many (though not all) kanji meanings with Japanese. Finally, an article discussing the meaning of 飽食 and how it is used states that'一般には「ほしいものを欲しいだけ食べられるような状態」を指すことが多いです', which I believe means 'generally, it is common for this to indicate "the state of being able to eat what one desires to the extent that one desires"', which again does not necessarily imply excess.

I would therefore like to suggest that 'gluttony' be removed from the definitions of this word, or that it be at least be placed in last position, because it seems to be primarily concerned with 'satiation', 'being able to eat a lot due to an abundance of food' or at most 'eating until one is tired of eating/no longer wants to eat' (which might be closer to 'engorgement'), with 'gluttony' being an ancillary phenomenon at best.</upd_detl>
