([gikun] only works for readings, AFAICT, and so we can’t use it if one *kanji spelling* is irregular, right?)

There’s no way to read these characters as ころも-がえ (usual reading is instead こうい).
(it’s instead a 漢語 with a similar meaning (“changing clothes” generally, rather than seasonally or the other senses here), and the characters are backwards to boot – change/clothes, rather than clothes/change).</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I feel it needs some mention, otherwise someone is either going to get confused, or try and suggest weird readings for 更 and 衣.
An alternative is to drop 更衣 entirely from this entry, and add ころもがえ to 1593475 (sense 1). They were once the one entry with several restrictions, and were split in 2008 at Scott's suggestion.</upd_detl>
