<upd_refs>Sense #3:
"matching outfit" usually refers to an outfit that matches another person's outfit, as in
"Tiger Woods' daughter, Sam, followed her dad and wore a matching outfit at TPC Boston."
... whereas it seems, from Scott's examples, that a コーディネート is an outfit whose *components* are matched with each other.
.
Sense #4:
コーディネート also refers to the components of a coordinated outfit, according to ルミナス和英辞典:
コーディネート
━[名] (調和のとれた組み合わせ家具・衣服) co´ordinates /-nschwats/ ★複数形で.
Webster definition:
coordinates — plural : articles (as of clothing) designed to be used together and to attain their effect through pleasing contrast (as of color, material, or texture)</upd_refs>
