<upd_refs>jpwiki has one article for そろばん, one for アバカス. jpwiki suggests "soroban;Japanese abacus" are used in English.
enwiki also has two articles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soroban
"The soroban (算盤, そろばん, counting tray) is an abacus developed in Japan. It is derived from the ancient Chinese suanpan,
imported to Japan in the 14th century."
google image results (in Japanese) for the two are very different.
the kokugos however don't have アバカス entries, except daijs, which only says そろばん.

should we add "soroban" as a second gloss to this entry, maybe?</upd_refs>
