<upd_detl>"town meeting" and "town hall meeting" are not synonyms. Looks like タウンミーティング is only used with the "town hall meeting". Koj has a second sense but describes it as American.
I wasn't familiar with either of these terms. They're not used in the UK.</upd_detl>
