余命宣告というのは、ドラマなどでこのシーンが良く登場する
ことなどから、一般の人にとっては進行がんの治療において必
須のもののように思われています。しかし、実際には余命宣告
は必須ではなく、また医師と患者の間で様々な誤解を生む、要

that it ends up being a weird translation for
things like
おじいちゃん余命宣告を受けた or indeed all
instances of ~を受けた/された
and the word does appear in the passive most
of the time.
