<upd_detl>There are a lot of examples where 中盤 is affixed directly to a noun (which is why I thought it was n-suf) and also plenty of 
examples of の中盤. What's the best way to indicate this in the entry?</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>i wouldn't call this a suffix.  it just forms part compound nouns.  we don't indicate this

i see no evidence of it being an adverb either, and at a minimum n-adv certainly shouldn't be the first pos listed</upd_detl>
