Which is defined by Jisho (jmdict) as

being the apple of one's eye

Here's the J-J definition:
めにいれてもいたくない 【目に入れても痛くない】 普通、異物が目に入ると痛くてたまらないものだが、溺愛（デキアイ）する者の場合はかわいさが先立ち、何でも無
批判に受け入れる、という形容。
Assuming you can understand the J-J definition, your reaction to the jmdict definition should be "wtf, neither the meaning, the nuance, or 
the usage, is described at all"."

I don't agree with the poster, I don't think our glosses are actually wrong and I don't think the "nuance" described in the J-J definition 
of "normally when you put something in your eye it hurts, but..." is necessary, but this part "何でも無批判に受け入れる" should maybe be 
worked in there somehow. There's probably No need to use eye-based glosses either considering the Japanese usage is so different.</upd_refs>
