<upd_refs>"animation" is an important sense that seems to be missing. See refs quoted below.
.
As far as I can see, 童画 is not "in-betweening" (which is a technique that is just one *part* of the process of creating an animation).
.
Here is what Wikipedia says about "in-betweening":
"Inbetweening or tweening is the process of generating intermediate frames between two images to give the appearance that the first image evolves smoothly into the second image."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inbetweening
.
According to GG5, 動画 can mean "(主要フレームの間を埋める) breakdowns; in-betweens". However:
- "in-betweens" is not the same as "in-betweening"
- the main meanings of 動画 appear to be (a) animation (b) video
.
Here, for example, is スーパー大辞林 3.0 definition of 動画
(1) アニメーション。
(2) 一般に、動いている画像のこと。主にデジタル情報処理の分野で、静止画に対していう。動画像。
.
Genius WaEi says
動画 animation; animated cartoon
動画の animated
.
Shogakukan simply says "see アニメーション".
.

translated as 動画 (or vice versa)

enwiki: Video clips (or movie clips) are short
clips of video or movie, usually part of a
longer recording. The term is also more
loosely used to mean any short video less than
the length of a traditional television
program.
cambridge advanced learners has an entry for
"video clip": "a short video"
clip is also used for short videos that are
not necessarily clipped from a longer video.
おもしろ動画 are funny shorts, not longer
