<upd_detl>Apart from a couple of hits for this meaning, most of the WWW references for this are either restaurant names or the Chinese place names in the Wikipedia article. I think if the Washington sense goes in, then the Chinese ones are needed too.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>All those Chinese place names are "かつて存在した州" exept the last one which is 華州区, not 華州. I don't think we need to include them.</upd_detl>
