<upd_detl>It appears in quite a few company names, and seems to mean "electrical goods merchandising" or something like that. That accounts for most of the WWW hits. I saw a couple of sites supporting the "e-commerce" meaning. Perhaps two senses?</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I think "merchant" is better than "merchandising". Only appears in company names, as far as I can tell.
I can't find any evidence that sense 2 is used outside of Brazil.</upd_detl>
