<upd_detl>all have it as a more general word with the 仮名手本忠臣蔵 as a particular instance.  i'm following mostly daijirin's entry because it's the only one that doesn't split the senses.  if the senses were split, then the 仮名手本忠臣蔵 one would probably belong in enamdict</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I don't think the kokugos are saying this means "performance of...", they're saying it's a common name for these plays, but that the 
word itself just refers to the story.</upd_detl>
