<upd_detl>is there an actual word for this in English? I feel that the non-literal meaning of "lubricant" in English is different from 
the Japanese one. e.g.
": something that lessens or prevents friction or difficulty
a social lubricant"
In Japanese, it's not used to refer to alcohol!

"(person or thing acting as a) lubricant"
