<upd_detl>as you can see above, the primary reading is not katakana. it is displayed that way on wwwjdic as an artifact of being marked uk and having katakana nokanji readings associated with it - a step taken to make katakana readings appear first for species names</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>WWWJDIC only moves the katakana to the front if it thinks it's a scientific name, which it does by detecting something in parentheses starting with a capital letter. In this case it was bring triggered by the "(P)". I have now modified it to ignore "(P)".</upd_detl>

I tried but got an error. If 一寸 is used in the news, I'm

ちょっと  is in itself a "declension", a way of declining an invitation, etc.
A case could be made it's an "abbr" for ちょっと難しい. I think our entry should cover this use as well.</upd_refs>

<upd_detl>I agree that the meaning is pretty much the same as sense 4, but the examples Marcus gave, and which I've encountered often, are not really adverbs or "before a verb in negative form". I feel trying to fit this particular usage into sense 4 would lead to an odd POS and clashing glosses.
The  [abbr] and reference to ちょっと難しい can be dropped.</upd_detl>
