<upd_refs>There is nothing in the definition that makes it clear that it can be a real estate property ("property" could be easily be taken to mean personal property, given the other glosses in the definition). 
GG5 makes it clear by saying "a property". EDICT could do that too, or it could say "property (esp. real estate)", for example, or just "property (real estate)".

<upd_detl>I'm seeing this used for properties, apartments, etc.  Possibly a good idea to split.
I'm looking at linking a sentence in Tatoeba as an example and it's using 物件 to refer to an apartment.</upd_detl>
