<upd_detl>Shinmeikai says that おやじ can be written as 老爺. The data on ふりがな文庫 backs that up. I wondered about just adding this as a reading to the new 老爺/ろうや entry but I think there's a difference in nuance.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I wouldn't object to adding おやじ there. If there's a difference in nuance, it should be brought out in the glosses.</upd_detl>
