from the second link: 延べ竿(のべ竿)とは、竿先にそのまま糸を結んで使う釣竿の総称。
the third link visually shows the difference, also the other links I've found and the images results from google image all agree that the fact it doesn't use a reel or guide and that the line is linked to the tip is what sets it apart
The second link also go on on saying: 元々は継ぎがなく、竹などのを用いた１本の釣り竿のことを指し、リールを取り付ける部分や、糸を通すガイドはありません。現在では技術の進歩とともに、伸縮できる振出タイプになっています。
Therefore I tend to believe that even the j-j entry from the dictionaries are not up to date with this item</upd_detl>
