I'm unable to copy from this pdf (some kind of copyright protection maybe) but this entire paper is super relevant to how "anata" should be 
defined. for example, out of the people who answered they never use the word "あなた" with people below them in rank (対下位者), 20% answered 
because it was rude, 70% because it was "distancing". This comment on use between equals (対同等者) is also illuminating:
"日頃名前で呼んでいる仲の人に「あなた」と呼びかけられると、なんか関係が悪くなるようなことしてしまったかなと思う"
otoh this is partially because they view it as polite!

I feel a [sens] tag wouldn't be out of place - it's not always sensitive, but it might be good to explain to learners that they absolutely need to

At first I thought the long note was too much, but think we have a responsibility to get the context and usage right. I moved the kanji comments to the end as their use is really marginal at best.</upd_detl>
