<upd_detl>Hi, in my book there is a case where this seems to be written 何か (as far as I can tell it is this sense, not the "something" sense, though admittedly my understanding of how far these two can overlap is hazy).</upd_detl>

(daij, prog, 斎藤和英大辞典, 新和英中辞典) use the kanji so it 
should probably stay out from this entry.</upd_detl>
