<upd_detl>iK is on the wrong one. the actual iK one (剳青) appears to be an edictism that was widely copied because it made it onto english wikipedia (and has since been removed). i see no reason to keep it
shinmeikai is the only source with 黥=いれずみ. it could be given its own entry as 黥[げい] with いれずみ as a gikun reading</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>You are quite right. You flagged 剳青 back in 2007, but in those hand-edit days I stuffed up your correction.
剳青 was getting WWW hits in 2004, with pages dating back to the 1990s, so I doubt it was all due to EDICT. Interesting that several totally Japanese pages on tattoos use lists of terms obvious pasted from EDICT.
My kanwas have いれずみ as a kun reading of 黥, so it wouldn't be gikun.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Yes, but I think the entry is rather over merged. 刺青 is mainly read しせい, with いれずみ as a gikun reading; just as 文身 is really ぶんしん, etc.
I think this should be broken into 4 entries. I know it's convenient to have the いれずみ/tattoo entry in one place but it's ended up a mess. If others agree I will do the split.</upd_detl>
