dictionary. out of those thousands, jmdict has cherrypicked Japanese cities, 
foreign capitals, a handful of super famous people like Mozart, and... 
historical dictionaries? Isn't it a rather weird subset?</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Weird? I don't think so. We try and keep to a consistent subset of proper names with the rest being in JMnedict/Enamdict. It would be silly to exclude all proper names, and a mess if we put in all 740,000 from JMnedict/Enamdict.
