<upd_detl>Well, looking at Google Images, there is always a prominent green element in the signage for these. Knowing that it's literally "green" would help users of the dictionary make the connection.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I've been aware of the colour scheme since my first visit to Japan in 1981. My point is that JR's decision to put the livery colour into the name of the place doesn't really relate to the English meaning. I don't mind adding literal translations of quirky terms, but one shouldn't go too far. I wouldn't add "[lit] little red" to 赤ちゃん, for example.</upd_detl>
