outside of LINE? That part I think I got 
from a native informer. I tried googling

dm function) but it all leads to LINE

<upd_detl>I think results are going to be skewed towards LINE simply because it's pretty much the only messaging app they use, but that doesn't mean this entry should restrict itself to one app name. If this word is used for any other platform, the gloss immediately becomes obsolete and incorrect. I just see no value in specifying one single app.</upd_detl>

I think it's because the word 未読/有読 
appear under the chat bubbles in LINE, 
which they don't in Facebook's Messenger,
