<upd_detl>There's a difference between the two
glosses though - check google images for
"storage space" and it's all self-storage
units. The Japanese word is much wider
than that and is actually mainly about
storage space in one's home. This is
better conveyed by "space to store
things," but it's a less straight-forward
translation so it shouldn't be the first
gloss.
Like I mentioned in the 入国 entry - it's
not like the other major wa-ei's are
trying to avoid having several similar-
sounding glosses, so I don't think we need
to worry about being concise either. Even
similar-sounding glosses can help to
convey the full range of the Japanese
word.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>The English Google image results are misleading. When I hear "storage space", I think of storage space in a home, not self-storage units.
Before removing the other gloss, I did a Google image search for "収納スペース" and the results matched what I expected.
We could add this to avoid confusion.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I just think having "space to store things" or something like that is helpful and I don't see how it subtracts anything from the entry. A
translator using jmdict would be happy to immediately have more than one synonym to choose from. Sometimes "space to store things" will be
the more natural-sounding translation and as such, I think we should include it.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Sorry, but to me "storage space" and "space to store things" are synonyms. I think Robins' addition is enough.
About 10% of the time it seems to mean/include storage units, but I think the "esp" covers that.</upd_detl>
