<upd_detl>The current Meaning seems consistent with the Daijirin definition.

To my mind, this is a good explanaition of the meaning of jishu:
「未」と「末」は〈字体〉〈字形〉は似ていますが、違う〈字種〉です。一方「天」には上の横画が長いものと短いものがありますが、どちらも同じ〈字種〉です。一般的に手書きでは、上の横画が短くなり、明朝体やゴシック体では長くなります。「齊」と「斉」、「齋」と「斎」は字体は違いますが同じ字種です。単に旧字と新字のちがいです。「喜」を草書にすると「七十七」とか「七七七」みたいになりますが、同じ〈字種〉です。

I believe the English could be improved.

"set of related or similar characters" is problably the most encountered sense.</upd_detl>
