<upd_detl>This is quite close to 腫れる – seems esp. used of “puffy face” (from exhaustion etc.), though it is also used in a medical context (esp. beriberi?).
Formally it seems more associated with fluid retention (several dicts mention this), rather than inflammation (from disease).</upd_detl>
