<upd_detl>Hardly obvious from the parts. Came up on the Translators' FB page where fun was made of GT translating 無駄のない動き as "futile movements".</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>The の would normally be replaced by が when conjugated but it seems like it might work in constructions like "効率的で全く無駄のなか
った人生。" (on the first page of google hits). There's only 29 google hits for that particular conjugation though... so I guess 
there's a case for adj-f. There's another 180 googits for "無駄のなく". I think I'm slightly in favor of adj-i</upd_detl>
