<upd_detl>The uses I have seen this in, in particular your example sentences, suggest the usage is actually more like "applications" or "uses" for a function rather than operational procedures. Are you sure you giving meaning isn't just a literal translation?</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>The ref from 10 years ago it gone. Yes, those glosses are a bit 直訳. Checking some WWW sites I agree "applications/uses" is probbaly a good way to go.</upd_detl>
