4) "unprepared action" doesn't convey the meaning very clearly, I feel. 
It misses the extreme sense of urgency that is in 押っ取り刀.
5) "something done on the spur of the moment" makes it sound like something relatively casual, 
like impulse buying.</upd_refs>
